How to: Increment the Counter Registry Key for Setup in SQL Server 2005

  1. click Start, click Run, type regedit.exe in Open, and then click OK.
  2. Navigate to the following registry key:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib]
  3. Right-click on the Counter key in 009 and select “Modfify”
  4. See the last counter number there. Reset the Last Counter key in Perflib to that number.
  5. Right-click on the Help key in 009 and select “Modfify”
  6. See the last counter number there. Reset the Last Help key in Perflib to that number.
